The Fab Four!!

Brandon flowers, Dave Keuning, mark stoermer, Ronnie Vannucci and what do you have? The Killers!! Realeasing one album after the next some good some not so good the killers are trying to bring something back to the world. "There one was a time when men made music, and people listened to it, and we're bringing that back." Are the words of Brandon who's had a great first platinum album called Hot fuss and an OK album right after called Sam's Town. The Killers may have been taking it down a notch and not get a head of themselves but we all know they have more great talent just bursting inside them there just waiting for that perfect rainy day. As a fan myself of the Killers i was so excited when I saw their picture in this months issue of Vogue and a real written article that actually told me something about them and wasn't bashing them on not making it #1 on there 2nd album. Thank you Vogue, something I try to read a little bit everyday and find a little tidbit about something somewhere else around the Nation or around the world.

Ice ice!!!Super cold!! It's good for you?

Its like going back into the ice age! Reading an article about a new way to rejuvenate your skin and health just by stepping into a cooling chamber that's only -275 degrees Fahrenheit. Doesn't that sound fun? Models athletes and the beautiful people why do this it boost endorphins energizes you and makes your whole body glow and makes you healthier and makes injuries and strains heal sooner. It's like steroids without being illegal and harmful to your body. Scientists, professors, Dr's. and trainers have looked and tested different aspects of the Cryo dose all that it claims. Most think that all the Cryo is that its what acupuncture was many years ago, more a mental head game to make you think its doing somthing and actualy its barely doing anything. To me, in my opinion ya a rush of cold air always feels good but luckily i live in Mn and dont have to pay for it i just have to walk out my front door!

Into the iPod generation!!!!!

Looking for something different and new to read, I happened upon an article about a baby boomer letting go of there old Cd's and ripping to the iPod. With over 2,000 Cd's he has along way to go but how to be ripped in all ways and still have the great sound quality you want? Randy Salas a writer for the Star tribune wrote an article today about different ways of getting large and small collections ripped to your computer/iPod time efficient and cost friendly. Randy gives three ways of possible of ripping; Pay Someone to do it, Rent Bravo Cd ripper, Trade Cd's for ripped files! These are just some of many ways to rip your Cd's to new more efficient iPod, and the ways that Randy looked into with very much thought. The choice that Randy made for ripping his own collection was to use Trade Cd's for Ripped files. He used this because it made the most sense for how large his library was and how much money he wanted to pay and what kind of sound quality he wanted. How this program works is that Randy sends in hi Cd's the new york company who rips them puts them on a High capacity external hard drive and back up DVDs and also two 120 GB iPod classics. He also gets some cash determined after the job is done. The Cd's are how he pays for the whole operation, literally the Cd's are never seen again at least by Randy they are sent and resold to countries that still are mainly using Cd's and not into the iPod's yet. You should go read the full article at STARTRIBUNE.COM/LIFESTYLE
and read the other ways in which to rip your Cd's and learn more about Trade Cd's for Ripped Files.

Win-Win Situation

The election is over but still lots of political talk all around the nation. "Competition brings out the best in us". says William Norwich, alsoCheck Spelling applies to our behavior whatever the outcome. I agree with this statement mad by William in the November issue of vogue, it shows how we truly react to things and how well we control our selves. This article talks about how a true winner should be brief. Speak softly. Say thank you. Avoid overdoing the humble bit. When yu loose at somthing weather it's the electton or a sports game how you proceed publicly even more than privately will determine how you heal. this article also refers to Vogue's Book of Etiquette(1948)whih expresses the attitude of the article perfectly:
Loser:That was a good game.
Winner:You had awfully bad luck.
Loser: No question of luck at all; you played well.
"The art of winning and losing is the art of learning to laugh at oneself and rise above negativity." The world is made up of great winners and losers and some not so great, but all in all they teach us great lessons and create epic stories for the future. As said by Halle Berry "If you weren't able to take criticism, then you were not worthy of getting praise."

Blog #9

Today I read yet another political article written in this months issue of Vogue titled Politics and Poise. The picture above the article intreaged me before iI had even read the title, a roup of well dressed women ranging in ages from 6 to 86 all looking like they were related. As I started to read the article it was amazing as how much they can realte diferent political parties with the women in the familys of the nominies and the nominiees themselves (Sarah Palin). That how even without knowing Palin is going to be the republicans vice-pres nomination they have a big article and photo shoot with her last winter. hmmm was this somehow telling the world sothing that was coming?????? Well either way the coming election will be a very intenese and exciting. There is many more regitered voter that are going to vote Nov. 4th and even in some states have already startered voting, it will be a monumental day either way and will go down in hitory!

Hero in a Box

“We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by.”
-Will Rogers
In this quote it is telling us that thre are no heros if we are all heros beacause no one will recognize each other of being extraordinary, or anything different from the person standing next to you! I picked this quote because it alomost seem controversial telling people that we ca not all be heros, but he is just stating the truth that no one wants to believe. Yes everyone has there little omes that make them feel like a hero but the real heros stand out and don't do it for attention!
In the video clip titled Hercules - Hero it is saying that you might not know it yet but there is a hero inside of you and all it takes is the thing that means the most to you is threatend in anyway. Through challanging obsticals you sooon will discover yourself and the true hero you are. This song contradicts somewhat of what the previous quote is saying but so do most disney movies.
“You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes.”
-Walter M Schirra, Sr.
Here the author is telling us that you dont treat your son like a hero, teach him what he needs to know to be a hero even if its only being a hero in your own eyes. Do the most you can to help your son along the way but he has to ecom his own hero. I picked this quote because it fits with many situations not just
A Hero
A hero thinks of others before they think of themselves

A hero will die to protect

A hero can be of any age, any colour

A hero can be man, woman or child

A hero is courageous, loving and brave

A hero will never complain

A hero can be made in one act of compassion

Or years of tender loving care

Some hero's are remembered, whilst many are left forgotten

Hero's are angels in disguise, saving precious innocent lives

-Nicola burkett

In this poem Nicola is refering more to the people servng the united states overseas and in enimie lines. These are more everyday heros and somthing that s alittle more realistic then Hercules, I like the way that she describes what a hero is to her and how it makes you think of who you know that fits those characteristics .

ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifuBWre3GvA&feature=relatedFirefoxHTML\Shell\Open\Command

This is more of an upbeat video clip from Hercules that from all the seriousness brings hopes up and in a fun way how a hero becomes. It is a very inergetic peice and shows traits of Hercules and what makes him a hero/gof in the eyes of te rest of the world and world beyond.

Conclusion

Through the many different kinds of heros to be found on the internet if found a few different ones including; the fairy tale/fantasy type, the real life soilder, or a hero in the eyes of loved ones. The fairytale/ fantasy type like Hercules is what comes to mind often or not because that is what is publisized and seen constantly, it is an example of a hero but not as life like that we can relate to. On the other hand a soilder of any kind many people can relate to and feel there pain and suffering, esspesialy if they are a soilder or have someone close love one in the armed services. One ind of hero we dont pay close attention to as much as others is the hero that kids are to there parents. Sometime this is learning how to cook a meal for your mom when she omes home from work or soemtimes its taking care of your siblings with no complaints and doing a good job. Through all the research I've figured out that anyone can be a hero in some way, alot of heros go unnoticed and unrecognised its a shame but sometimes the best is that you know th truth inside and no one else dose.

Recent readings!!

The secret to scoring success later is to start right now! As it is said in the article Get Your Dream Job! by Jessica Press. This article talks about what are some of the top dream jobs and what it takes to succeed at them and what you can start doing this very second to get on the road to success. The readers of the magazine voted and the top 5 dream jobs are as follows; #1 Actress, #2 Model, #3 Doctor, #4 Fashion Designer, and #5 Musician there are many other dream jobs that girls have these are just a few that many want. With any job or career
that you want to succeed in takes lots of work and determination, every job requires different skills and interests. I myself would like to make it into the fashion industry and create and manage my own boutique and a few major lines. Right now I make sketches of designs that i would like to create and get friends feed back on them, i would like to take a more advanced sewing class to improve my skills as well as taking an internship or job at a fashion boutique or magazine. The fashion industry is a tough place but with the right mind set and skills anyone can do it!

Out Side Reading # 4

I was flipping through the pages of Vogue and between all the fabulous designs was an article called Costumes for the Revolution. This article was interesting by that it was about how Joan Juliet Buck remembered working at Glamorous in the 1960's and dressing exotically to offset a climate of political mayhem. I found this to be an eye catcher because we are in such a heavy political time that this would be the perfect thing to blog about. When Nixon was elected in the fall she wore all red and every shade of red together to protest him being elected. There was so much war and politics going on that the small numbers of revolutions came from other countries different forms of clothes that only few trendy and sophisticated could afford to wear. it talks about how fashion and politics can go together and how they are wrapped around each other. This election for example there has been any designs for clothing and other items for each party Democrats and Republicans, many though are for Obama and are trying to get looks for everyone that they will wear on a daily baisis to get free advertdment.

Outside reading #3

Students and fans all over were greatly saddened when they found out Heath Ledger was dead, recently I read an article by Sean Carney in the Zephyrus called Losing Ledger. This article was s very enjoyable and especially meaningful if you like many though Heath was hot!!! It was a serious loss for everyone, Sean wrote about that Heath should win the Oscar this coming awards ceremony and that only one actor is any to none composition for him, Peter Finch. This was a brief article but it gets you to think about a lot and read more and hope for more in depth articles. Some thoughts that got the ignited in my mind included why would Heath want to kill himself after a great career and finishing the #2 box office seller this yr., how could anyone deal with being the charter of the joker, and why shouldn't he win the Oscar???? I love to read the Zephyrus and find fun articles that relate to my life and interests I have.

Angels & Demons #2

Angles & Demons by Dan Brown
"He was both. Men of science and religion are not unprecedented in history. Leonardo was one of them. He considered physics 'god's natural law.' He claimed God's handwriting was visible in the natural order all around us. Through science he hoped to prove God's existance to the doubting masses. He considered himself a theo-physicist."(Browm 44)
The significance of this quote is that men of science and religion are not given as much credit as they should. Someone who has the knowlage of both the greatest scientific terms and the history of the church, and can put sence into a form to combine the too interlocking is a miracle. Most people do not have the patience or knowlage to do that, this man was one of the brightes people in the world he should be greatly recognised. He see's things that might not be so clear as other things like the sun and the moon, things/ideas come to him no one knows how they just do and they are amazing!

Somthing I Read!! Recently!!!!

We got assigned this assignment and i had to find something to read (sorry didn't remember this summers reading) so i picked up the Star Tribune and found an article about the opening of the new 35W in Minneapolis by Jim Foti. A lot of people were cautious about the bridge because of what happened just over a year ago but Richard Kleinschmidt had a calling to be one of the first people to cross the new 35W. The author was talking about how the daily commute will now somewhat change and of some people conquering there fear of the bridge and the tragedy a year ago. This piece was very well put together and I agree that things will change but with some time it always takes people some time to adapt to new things. For example sophomores at Edina coming to the High school for the first day of school and not knowing were many things are and coming into a way different environment is hard to change and adapt to but as the year progresses things happen and eventually students know there way and learn the ways of EHS!!
